The path to popularity for an It fashion item is rarely immediate; it can take years to gain traction with the right audience or align with cultural shifts. Once it hits, though, it becomes a phenomenon. A perfect example is Rag & Bone’s Miramar Jeans, also known as the viral sweatpant jeans.
These pants, which launched in 2013, combine the look of real denim with the comfort of sweatpants. They achieved widespread popularity seven years later, in 2020. That timing coincided with the pandemic, when a need for comfort, a desire to maintain a polished appearance, and the rise of distraction-seeking on platforms like TikTok collectively drove Miramar’s massive success. They quickly became a must-have for everyone and their mother.
Even after six years, they’re still the It girls’ go-to for working from home, running errands, or catching a flight. Rag & Bone has noticed this trend and updated the silhouette in a distinctly 2026 way by adding colorful stripes down the legs. This new design—the Miramar Sport Stripe Track Pant—is a hybrid of sweatpants, wide-leg jeans, and track pants—a style favored by chic dressers in Copenhagen, New York City, and London.
Though my personal style leans heavily toward neutrals (black, navy, and brown), and I was initially unsure about the new striped versions offered in bold combinations like orange/cobalt blue, green/white, and red/navy, I ultimately trusted my long-held belief in Rag & Bone’s inherent chicness (a perception solidified during my time working at the Georgetown Rag & Bone retail store in 2017) and got my hands on a pair.

My Review
The Miramar Sport Stripe Track Pants feel like sweatpants because they’re made with Miramar Terry, a soft cotton fabric, and look like jeans because of the trompe l’oeil denim print, which mimics a distressed wash and a five-pocket design. They’re finished with a pull-on elastic waistband, though there’s an illusion of a button-like closure.
While the size range isn’t as extensive as the brand’s regular denim, it does come in sizes XXS to XL. For reference, I typically wear a 25 in jeans and went with the XS, but I could have sized down one more to the XXS, so I would say they run on the bigger side. Not surprisingly, given my 5-foot stature and the 31.5-inch inseam, they puddled on the ground, which I normally don’t mind; however, they dragged a little too much even with one-inch heels. Hemming alterations will be necessary.
Despite the need for a sizing adjustment, I am pleased with the overall style. This was my first time trying the Miramar line, even though my mom had raved about it, and I now regret not trying it sooner. I love how comfortable they are and appreciate the relaxed, slouchy silhouette. Looking in the mirror, I felt like I was wearing real jeans and, surprisingly, put together—a definite plus. The colorful stripes were easy to style; I paired them just as I would with any baggy jeans: high-V-neck sweater to complement the casual, sporty vibe and black closed-toe kitten heels for an added touch of edge and polish. I’m excited to wear them throughout the winter and especially into the spring, as the season will be all about bold color combinations, a trend Rag & Bone perfectly captures with the Sport Stripe Track Pants.
