Over the past few seasons, fashion girls have declared V-neck tops back en vogue, swaying naysayers (like myself) to give the look a chance. Now, the silhouette is making its way into the footwear world. But don’t be mistaken: V-neck shoes are by no means new. Ever the trendsetter, designer Phoebe Philo debuted the silhouette—a V-cut glove-style heel—on Celine‘s spring 2016 runway. Ten years later, the shoe is returning with gusto.
Lately, we have fashion industry vets like Matthieu Blazy,Pierpaolo Piccioli, and Stella McCartney to thank for reviving V-neck shoes. Chanel’s pre-fall 2026 show, held in a New York City subway station, showcased two-tone versions. Meanwhile, for Pierpaolo Piccioli’s spring 2026 debut collection for Balenciaga, the newly appointed creative director revealed a glossy black pair. Stella McCartney, too, designed a cherry red V-neck mule for spring 2026.
Celebrities are hopping aboard the V-neck shoe train as well. One such person is budding It girl and Love Story star Sarah Pidgeon, who hit the Loewe fall 2026 show at Paris Fashion Week in a black glove-style V-neck pump. Kate Hudson went the same sartorial route, slipping into a fitted black pair while out and about in New York City last month. The influencer set is equally smitten: one quick scroll through social media shows fashion girls like Stephanie Broek and Sylvie Mus backing the footwear trend.
