At last, the warm spring days have arrived, and it’s shifted both my mood and my wardrobe into a whole new gear. Over the past few weeks, I’ve spent time rearranging my wardrobe, relinquishing heavy wools and insulating layers to the back and bringing light linen trousers and floaty boho blouses to the front. Whilst I tend to rely heavily on jeans and trousers for everyday, my busy calendar calls for instant polish that requires little styling, so now my attention is focused on easy spring dresses. And my search begins at Zara, H&M and COS.

Whilst I’ll always depend on a great pair of jeans or the polish of tailored trousers, the ease of spring, and the highly refined spring collections have finally tempted me out of my comfort zone and directly into spring dress shopping. What draws me back to my trusted trousers is the sophisticated edge and comfort, so my dress selection is also focused on these elements. Elegance is at the top of my search criteria, followed closely by an easy-to-style design, and versatility (my calendar is calling out for pieces that can be restyled for day or night).

Leading the way with great spring dresses on the high street are Zara, H&M and COS. The trio consistently serves up expensive-looking styles that can pass for investment buys, and this season is no different. For spring 2026, Zara is leaning into the boho mood with delicate lace and intricate embroidery to bring a pretty edge to spring styling. Alongside, pared-back styles are ready to bolster minimalist wardrobes, whether as the main event or a backdrop for bolder accessorising.

At H&M, delicate motifs have also broken through, paired with striking silhouettes defined by ruching and belt detailing. Silhouette is driving the expensive look of the dress collection, along with a return to classic shirt dresses and throw-on tank styles. For COS, a few best-selling styles have returned due to popular demand, including the relaxed contrast-panel dress and the twist-detail midi that I missed out on last year. Trust me, I won’t miss out again. Along with the return of the classics comes a series of new-in styles at COS which focus heavily on the brand’s expertise in tailoring, form and fabric. With months of sunshine ahead of us, now is the time to snap up the best Zara, H&M and COS spring dresses before they sell out.
