Don’t get me wrong—I thoroughly enjoy a soft, clean-smelling perfume, but I don’t exactly love smelling like soap. I totally understand the appeal of a “fresh out of the shower” vibe, but when I want to smell airy and delicate, I prefer a perfume with more of a light, velvety quality. Think fragrances that evoke fuzzy sweaters, whipped meringue or a cluster of cotton-like clouds—”fluffy” perfumes, as I’m officially calling them.
Fluffy scents are understated at their core, usually with a touch of sweetness (meringue, marshmallow, etc.), yet not enough to fully push them into gourmand territory. That said, they’re also quite cosy—the fragrance equivalent of a cashmere blanket—which makes them perfect for year-round wear. Essentially, they’re the ultimate crowd-pleasers, perfect for anyone who wants to smell like a real-life angel. (My hand is raised!)

ICYMI, H&M and e.l.f. Cosmetics teamed up for a major fragrance collab inspired by the beauty brand’s most iconic makeup products. My favourite of the bunch has to be Halo Glow: Luminous Cloud (inspired by e.l.f.’s Halo Glow makeup collection), a romantic, soft scent with whiffs of magnolia, vanilla and amber. Like its makeup counterparts, which are known for giving your skin a lit-from-within glow, this fluffy perfume is dreamy and angelic.

Spritzing Valaya makes you feel like you’re submerged into a fluffy feather-down duvet in a five-star hotel. It’s one of the most ethereal perfumes I’ve tried. It’s a beautiful floral perfume, with creamy white florals, fuzzy peach skin and skin-like musk that gives it a fluffy, cloud-like quality. I’ve not met anyone who hasn’t fallen in love with this perfume.

Sogno In Rosso Parfum

The first time I smelled this perfume from Valentino’s Anatomy Of Dreams collection, I thought it smelled surprisingly clean and milky (from the bold red bottle, I thought it would lean super sweet or smoky). Then I saw the composition’s latte form and orange blossom and immediately understood why. The former is whipped and light (aka fluffy), while the latter has a creamy, honey-like quality that’s fresh and downright addictive. Trust me, it smells divine. I reach for Sogno in Rosso almost daily!

Plenty of reviewers agree with my take: “It really reminds me of a cashmere jumper,” one shopper says of the clean, “quiet luxury” scent.

A celestial fragrance through and through, Celestial Object starts with a sparkling zing of pink pepper before settling into creamy softness thanks to almond, rice paper and tonka bean. It’s meant to smell like stardust on skin. It’s delicate yet deeply mysterious, and I find myself practically floating away with each spritz.
